Strand History

The Strand Movie Series was begun in 2018 as a way to pay tribute to the Forum Theater’s roots. The Strand Theater was opened by Universal Pictures in 1926, with seating for 1,262. It was the largest movie house in the area for more than 40 years. The building was acquired in the late 1970s by the City of Jonesboro and underwent a renovation to become a performance venue and home for the Foundation of Arts.
